Annual estimate for your profileEstimate only โ not a quote. Real premiums depend on your ZIP code, claims history, insurer, discounts and underwriting rules that no calculator can see. Get quotes from at least three insurers (including one usage-based option if offered in your state) before you buy.
Estimate only โ not a quote. Real premiums depend on your postcode, occupation, claims history, insurer and underwriting rules that no calculator can see โ and some insurers won't cover young or newly qualified drivers on group 50 cars at all. Compare quotes on at least two comparison sites, plus insurers that don't appear on them, before you buy.
How this is calculated
- Base: a UK average comprehensive premium (about ยฃ650/yr), multiplied by your region's cost index (London is the most expensive).
- Vehicle: insurance group on the 1โ50 scale. A typical car sits around group 20; each group above adds about 2.5%, so Teslas (groups 47โ50) start roughly 70โ75% above average.
- Driver: an age curve (17โ19-year-olds pay several times the base; rates bottom out in the 50s and 60s and rise again after 75), claims and convictions (speeding +12%, a fault claim +35%, drink-driving more than doubles it), and No Claims Discount relative to a typical five years (0 years โ 2.2ร, 9+ years โ โ11%).
- Policy: cover level (third party only +8% and third party, fire & theft +3% versus comprehensive), voluntary excess (ยฃ250 โ โ5%, ยฃ1,000 โ โ14%), annual miles (~1.2% per 1,000 miles from 7,400), overnight parking (garage โ4%, street +8%), named drivers and a multi-car discount (โ8%).
- Telematics: an illustrative black-box curve โ about +10% at 70, โ12% at 90 and โ28% at 100 versus the standard estimate.

- Base: a national average full-coverage premium for a typical driver (about $2,350/yr), multiplied by your state's cost index.
- Vehicle: +0.6% for every $1,000 of price above $40,000 (less below it), +12% for Performance, Plaid and Cyberbeast trims, +10% for Cybertruck, and +12% for the higher repair and parts costs typical of Teslas.
- Driver: an age curve (teens pay up to ~3ร the base; rates bottom out in the 50s and rise again after 70), driving record (ticket +22%, at-fault accident +45%, DUI +85%), and credit tier (โ15% to +60%) where the state allows it.
- Policy: state-minimum liability โ 35% of standard full coverage; full coverage with higher limits and a low deductible โ +20%. Miles move the price ~0.8% per 1,000 miles from 12,000; garage parking โ4%; bundling โ12%.
- Safety Score: an illustrative telematics curve โ about +15% at 70, โ10% at 90 and โ25% at 100 versus the standard estimate.
