How this is calculated

Does buying FSD add sales tax?
Usually — when bought with the car it's part of the taxable price, and subscriptions may be taxed too depending on your state. Add your tax to the purchase and subscription prices for a closer comparison.
Is VAT included?
Yes — UK prices for FSD, like the car, include 20% VAT, so there's nothing to add. If you buy it with the car on PCP or HP it's financed too, which adds interest; set the opportunity cost to your finance APR to reflect that.
What does FSD actually do in the UK?
Less than in the US so far. UK and UNECE rules govern which assisted-driving functions can be used on public roads, and approval of more advanced "supervised" features has been working its way through regulators. Check Tesla's UK site for what's enabled today before paying — and weigh only the features you can actually use.
Why does months-per-year matter so much?
A subscription is pay-as-you-go. If you'd only switch it on for a couple of long trips a year, you may never reach the purchase price before you sell the car. Try 3 or 4 months in the slider.
What if the price changes later?
A purchase locks in what you paid; a subscription price can go up or down. If you expect increases, nudge the subscription price up to see how sensitive the answer is — the table shows where the outcome flips.
