Tell us how fast you'll go, how cold it is and what you're carrying, and we'll estimate the miles you'll really get โ€” and show which factor costs the most.

Battery energy per mile at a steady ~55 mph in mild weather. We start here rather than from WLTP, which is a gentle lab cycle and overstates real range.

How this is calculated

We start from your car's rated consumption (usable kWh รท EPA range) and the energy in the pack (battery % ร— usable kWh ร— health). Each condition then changes consumption in Wh per mile; range = energy รท consumption. Effects are typical values from public testing and owner reports, not Tesla data.

We start from the energy in the pack (battery % ร— usable kWh ร— health) and a real-world baseline consumption for your car โ€” not the WLTP figure, which comes from a gentle lab cycle and typically promises 10โ€“15% more range than you'll see even in mild weather. The first row of the breakdown shows that gap. Each condition then changes consumption in Wh per mile; range = energy รท consumption. Effects are typical values from public testing and owner reports, not Tesla data.

Why doesn't the order of the factors matter much?
Most factors multiply consumption, so the final range is the same in any order. The miles shown for each factor do depend slightly on order โ€” we apply speed first because it's the biggest lever you control.
How can I get more range in winter?
Precondition while plugged in, use seat heaters and a lower cabin temperature, slow down 5 mph, and avoid many short trips that reheat a cold pack each time.
Is it safe to arrive at 0%?
There's a small reserve below 0%, but don't plan on it. A 10% buffer covers detours, headwinds and a busy charger. In very cold weather consider 15โ€“20%.
