Estimate only — not a quote. Real premiums depend on your postcode, occupation, claims history, insurer and underwriting rules that no calculator can see — and some insurers won't cover young or newly qualified drivers on group 50 cars at all. Compare quotes on at least two comparison sites, plus insurers that don't appear on them, before you buy.

How this is calculated

Why are Teslas in such high insurance groups?
Groups reflect repair costs, parts prices, performance and security. Teslas have expensive aluminium and structural castings, cameras and sensors in the bumpers, a limited network of approved body shops and long repair times — and every trim is quick. Most sit in groups 47–50, the same territory as large premium SUVs.
Is third party only cheaper?
Often not. Insurers see third-party-only policies chosen disproportionately by higher-risk drivers, so they price them accordingly. Comprehensive cover is frequently the same price or cheaper — and it's the only one that pays to repair your own car. Always quote all three.
Should I protect my No Claims Discount?
Protection usually costs 10–20% extra and lets you make one or two claims in a set period without losing the discount — but your premium can still rise after a claim. It's worth more the bigger your NCD and the pricier the car to repair.
