2016–2017 Tesla Model S 60 (RWD)
249 miles of range (NEDC, an older and more generous test), a 62.4 kWh battery and Supercharging at up to 120 kW. Below: what that means for charging time and running costs, what each model year is worth now, and calculators that open with this car already chosen.

Charging and running costs
- Supercharger, 10% → 80%
- about 40 min (44 kWh, ≈ £23)
- Home charger, empty → full
- about 9.5 hours at 7.4 kW
- A full charge at home
- ≈ £18.19 at 26.5p/kWh
- Per mile, off-peak EV tariff
- 2.8p at 7.5p/kWh
- Per mile, home charging
- 9.9p
- Per mile, Supercharging
- 17.7p at £0.52/kWh
- Per mile, petrol car (45 mpg)

Estimates from the specs and UK average prices, including about 10% charging losses at home. Supercharging slows as the battery fills, so times vary with the site, the weather and the battery's temperature.

Battery and warranty
- Chemistry: NCA (Panasonic 18650 NCA).
- Battery and drive unit warranty: 8 years or unlimited miles (gradual capacity loss is not covered).
- 2012–13 cars: the VIN's 8th character shows the pack — C = 40 kWh tier, G = 60 kWh tier, N = 85 kWh tier, P = 85 kWh tier with the Performance motor. (2014–15 VINs only say standard or high capacity in the 7th character.)
- Badges can mislead: 2016–17 cars badged 60/60D (and some 70/70D) use a 75 kWh pack limited by software. If yours has been unlocked, choose the 75 version.
- Older 85 kWh packs: a 2019 software update capped range on about 1,700 cars; if your range dropped suddenly in 2019, that may be software rather than wear.
The last Model S and Model X were built at Fremont on 10 May 2026; 2026 was the final model year. (Wikipedia gives 13 May; contemporary reports say 10 May.)
